The measures brought in to combat the spread of Covid-19 have affected many couples and the wedding industry as a whole. I will work with all my wedding bookings to try to ensure we can adapt our plans to still cover their wedding. Many couples have opted to push back their weddings in order to have the wedding they had been planning for, where as others are happy to go ahead with restrictions in place such as reduced numbers, social distancing etc.
I have a few more weddings that are still going ahead and have managed to cover all rescheduled dates so far. Current restrictions seem likely to stay in place for the remainder of the year and into 2021. I will continue to book in 2020 weddings for couples happy to go ahead with restrictions in place and into 2021 and 2022 for those hoping to be married without these measures featuring in their day.
The year started off quite normally but took a huge turn in March, with a wedding at Oulton Hall on the weekend that the news broke that a lockdown would come in to force. There was great uncertainty surrounding whether the day could/should even go ahead or if any restrictions would be brought in before the wedding. Luckily, the couple had their wedding day with only a few changes to their plans.
For now, the wedding and events work has inevitably dropped off. I worked the first day of the St Leger at Doncaster Racecourse with the return of race-goers before that too was shut back down and the event continued behind closed doors. I've tried to continue working although the focus currently is away from events and ranges from family/kids sessions to property and commercial photography.
